 Kaspar Kaarlep works within the control center department of Elektrilevi, the largest Distribution System Operator in Estonia. In the past 4 years, he has been on the forefront of introducing ICS security awareness and risk mitigation in Elektrilevi.  Kaspar started as an automation engineer and later was responsible for coordinating Smart Grid implementation projects in the role of project manager. His past projects include SCADA cyber security testing, implementation of a relay settings information system and the migration of substation communications to TCP/IP. Starting from the beginning of 2013, he is the head of the newly formed Operational Technology Sector, responsible for ICS maintenance, development and security. He received his M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Tallinn University of Technology where he was engaged in biomimetic robotics research. Currently he is working on redesigning the Elektrilevi SCADA system and increasing applied research capabilities within the organization.
